What are some Thanksgiving ideas for a family of 3?

Its just going to be my husband, son, and i for Thanksgiving this year. Both of our familys live out of state and we are not going to be able to travel this year to meet them.

Any ideas on how to go about celbrating Thanksgiving with just the 3 of us?

We would still like to have a Thanksgiving dinner, but need smaller dinner ideas.

Butterball boneless stuffed white turkey breast.
Baked boneless ham half glazed with golden corn syrup.
Baked potatoes with the skin on seasoned with celery seed.
Sauteed portebello mushrooms and snowpeas.
Baked saffron and coriander bannock.
Dr.Oetker instant caramel creme custard.
Graham crackers iced with white mint flavoured icing and decorated with Smarties.
Cranberry juice.

Something you could do is invite friends over if they don’t have too much to do. Otherwise, to make your meals smaller you could get a small turkey breast in place of the whole turkey and just make very small amounts of things such as potatoes, corn, pies, etc. Or maybe your family could come visit you. Three people does sound a bit un-festive like. If no one can come to your home and you can’t travel to your family, prehaps you could celebrate at a friends’ house or spend your time cooking alot of food then taking it to local "soup kitchens" or around to elderly who can’t get about. This could be something the three of you could share in and is very fun as well as rewarding.

Hope this helps and I wish you lots of good luck and I hope you have a very happy Thankgiving.

How about making dinner and then learning grammar so your son doesn’t speak like you. It’s: "………my husband, son and ME………………."

The plural of family is FAMILIES.

    It’s spelled: CELEBRATING.

    Very sad.

Instead of a turkey, maybe you can roast a chicken with all the trimmings and a small ham on the side. When I was first married we had "Thanksgiving" for only two of us and I got a Roaster Chicken and stuffed it and all the trimmings scaled down and it was great.

I make something that has turkey and stuffing in it but you can make as much or as little as you want. While you are at the store get thick sliced turkey breast (from the deli), instant stuffing, and gravy. After making the stuffing, roll it up in the turkey slices. Put it in a casserole dish and smother it with gravy. That will cover you turkey and stuffing problem, just add what ever sides you want. It’s just like Thanksgiving dinner, just downsized. If you don’t want turkey I have a great idea for chicken also. When your at the store get 4oz. of cream cheese, 1pkg. (10oz) frozen chopped spinach, 6small chicken breast already pounded flat1/4inch thickness, 1 egg, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and some Ritz crackers. Preheat oven to 375. Mix cream cheese, spinach (thawed and drained), 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, and 3 tbsp. of Parmesan cheese, spread onto chicken and then roll it up. Beat egg in shallow bowl. Mix 3tbsp. Parmesan cheese and the cracker crumbs in pie plate. Dip chicken in egg, then roll in crumb mixture. Place seam sides down, in a baking pan an cook until chicken is done. It’s really good with rice as a side but you can add whatever you like with it. Those are just some ideas, I hope I helped.

I say go all out…involve all 3 of you in the cooking and you’ll have a blast..just do it on a smaller scale..smaller turkey, candied yams etc..just have fun with it..Happy Thanksgiving!

I would just go with a turkey breast, or a small turkey. Make some stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, and steam some veggies. Then, top it off with your favorite dessert. Like pumpkin pie maybe. Then, maybe the three of you could go catch a good movie or something.Usually on Thanksgiving evening, the newest Christmas movie of the year come out in theaters.
