How is your family spending Thanksgiving and do you have any special traditions?

For us, we are going to my husband’s parents house for Thanksgiving. Us girl are going to cook and the guys are going to split fire wood for a camp fire later on. We also make Thanksgiving cookies (ginger bread cookies cut out in the shape of leaves, acorns and turkeys!) and decorate them.

What unique things do you do?

We will just be staying home that is a tradition that we started years ago. Instead of arguing about where we are going for the day, we just eat at home.

Very peaceful around our house.

We really don’ t have any traditions we usually alternate the holidays with my family and my hubby’s, since we recently moved to my hubby’s hometown we will be going to his grandmas house for thanksgiving. My MIL always makes chicken fried steak for my GFIL because he doesn’t like turkey and since we lost him back in April we will probably make it every year from now on.We also pull names for the Secret Santa game we play for x-mas on thanksgiving.

This Thanksgiving will be truly unique because this will be the first-spending w/out husband and not going over my parents house because my elder sister tricked my parents into signing over their home to them–using the ole nursing home scare. Darn I hate being the younger sibling! So, this year myself and my sons will be starting something truly new: EATING OUT! : ) Yes, feeling a little sad as the holiday fast approaches, and I truly want to make my yearly lemon coconut cake…get the feeling two tween boys won’t let mommy not cook a grand meal! As a family -with husband-our Thanksgiving tradition was to get out the board games, put up the Christmas tree–decorate tree and room–visit a couple of friends (a timer was set); get over to my parents–stay 2.45 minutes; come home play more board games then consume a 2nd dinner…the grand meal that I prepared!

We are going to a friend’s house. She lives across the street, so it will be an easy trip. 🙂

    All the best.
