I must decorate! What can I decorate for Thanksgiving! I am always so lost this time of year.?

My decorating is mainly color scheme oriented. Halloween and Christmas have such clearly defined color schemes. But Thanksgiving??? I am filled with dread at the thought of deciding between all the possible colors schemes that have been appropriate in the past. What if they aren’t appropriate this year? What will my friends – dedicated decorators one and all – what will they say about me behind my back if I choose an unfashionable Thanksgiving color scheme??? Help me. Help me please.

"I am filled with dread at the thought of deciding between all the possible colors schemes that have been appropriate in the past."

Are you kidding? In the grand scheme of things a color scheme is very unimportant. It should not be a decision that fills you w/ dread. You should not be so overly concerned w/ what your friends think.

Classic fall colors are always appropriate. Actually, anything that looks nice w/ the decor of your home is appropriate. You can go outside the box.

I once did a formal Thanksgiving dinner in navy and pink. It went w/ the Evesham china I had and the navy was a nice under cloth for an ecru Victorian crocheted tablecloth my grandmother had made. In the center of the table I had a collection of mismatched brass candlesticks of different heights w/ dusty rose tapers that matched the napkins (yes, it was the eighties).

Use what you have and put it together in a new way. Since gold is so abundant in nature you can work it into your palette as either a color or a metal.

thanksgiving Dinner Recipe?

Hi everyone, yeah it’s that time again for thanksgiving. I am wondering has any body ever made corn bread stuffing made with beef sage sausage instead of pork, if so what is your feed back, being there are non pork eaters in my household. Any suggestions would be great and what else would you add for flavor like celery…ect thanks have a great holiday.

Most diabetics can eat the normal foods, they can adjust their insulin if needed for a special meal. A sugar free desert may be in order though –

Sugar Free Pumpkin Pie

1 (.25 ounce) envelope unflavored gelatin
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
1 (12 fluid ounce) can evaporated milk
2 eggs, beaten
16 packets artificial sweetener

In a large saucepan, combine gelatin, cornstarch, spices and salt. Stir in pumpkin and evaporated milk. Let stand for 5 minutes to soften gelatin.

Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture bubbles; cook and stir for 2 minutes after bubbling. Remove from heat.

In a medium bowl, gradually stir about 1 cup of cooked mixture into beaten eggs. Return to remaining mixture in saucepan and cook over low heat for 2 minutes; do not boil. Remove from heat and stir in artificial sweetener after filling has cooled to 140° F.

Do you have any ideas for her?

While your at it any ideas for christmas?

Here are some of the Thanksgiving Decoration ideas, which you can use to make your
Harvest Fall Festival lively, colorful and bright. Check these out:

1.Autumn Door Wreath: This decorates you doors and windows and welcome your family, friends and relatives. This can be hand made. Only you require a cardboard, dry twigs, water color paints. With the cardboard form the words ‘autumn’ and paint it. Sew the words together also attaching the twigs. Then hang them it on the door.

2.Clay Coasters: These coasters are made from clay, glaze paper, and paint. These hand made coasters look beautiful and enthralling on the Fall Celebration.

3. Cranberry Centerpiece: This can be prepared by using an old candleholder, ribbons, multi colored silk, dried cones and leaves. This can be put on the plate sprinkled with dried cones and leaves. This makes an ideal dinner table Thanksgiving Decoration piece.

Eat and be marry!

Any ideas for something kid friendly to make a thanksgiving dinner?

Not sure if you mean something kids can make, or something kids will like to eat. Also not sure if you mean a whole meal or just side dishes.

If it’s cooking with kids: mac & cheese is a good side for kids usually.

To cook with kids: cookies, pumpkin muffins, or bake a cake.

Thanksgiving meal plan?

I would like to make a kid friendly thanksgiving dinner. This is my first year to attempt it so any help is appreciated. Recipes, tips and ideas, thanks!

Awesome Sausage, Apple and Cranberry Stuffing

INGREDIENTS

* 1 1/2 cups cubed whole wheat bread
* 3 3/4 cups cubed white bread
* 1 pound ground turkey sausage
* 1 cup chopped onion
* 3/4 cup chopped celery
* 2 1/2 teaspoons dried sage
* 1 1/2 teaspoons dried rosemary
* 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
* 1 Golden Delicious apple, cored and chopped
* 3/4 cup dried cranberries
* 1/3 cup minced fresh parsley
* 1 cooked turkey liver, finely chopped
* 3/4 cup turkey stock
* 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F (175 degree C). Spread the white and whole wheat bread cubes in a single layer on a large baking sheet. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes in the preheated oven, or until evenly toasted. Transfer toasted bread cubes to a large bowl.
2. In a large skillet, cook the sausage and onions over medium heat, stirring and breaking up the lumps until evenly browned. Add the celery, sage, rosemary, and thyme; cook, stirring, for 2 minutes to blend flavors.
3. Pour sausage mixture over bread in bowl. Mix in chopped apples, dried cranberries, parsley, and liver. Drizzle with turkey stock and melted butter, and mix lightly. Spoon into turkey to loosely fill.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

INGREDIENTS

* 1/4 cup white sugar
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 3/4 cup butter
* 3 cups white sugar
* 3 eggs
* 6 very ripe bananas, mashed
* 1 (16 ounce) container sour cream
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 3 teaspoons baking soda
* 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
* 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Grease four 7×3 inch loaf pans. In a small bowl, stir together 1/4 cup white sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Dust pans lightly with cinnamon and sugar mixture.
2. In a large bowl, cream butter and 3 cups sugar. Mix in eggs, mashed bananas, sour cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Mix in salt, baking soda and flour. Stir in nuts. Divide into prepared pans.
3. Bake for 1 hour, until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

INGREDIENTS

* 1 (12 pound) whole turkey
* 6 tablespoons butter, divided
* 4 cups warm water
* 3 tablespoons chicken bouillon
* 2 tablespoons dried parsley
* 2 tablespoons dried minced onion
* 2 tablespoons seasoning salt

DIRECTIONS

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Rinse and wash turkey. Discard the giblets, or add to pan if they are anyone’s favorites.
2. Place turkey in a Dutch oven or roasting pan. Separate the skin over the breast to make little pockets. Put 3 tablespoons of the butter on both sides between the skin and breast meat. This makes for very juicy breast meat.
3. In a medium bowl, combine the water with the bouillon. Sprinkle in the parsley and minced onion. Pour over the top of the turkey. Sprinkle seasoning salt over the turkey.
4. Cover with foil, and bake in the preheated oven 3 1/2 to 4 hours, until the internal temperature of the turkey reaches 180 degrees F (80 degrees C). For the last 45 minutes or so, remove the foil so the turkey will brown nicely.

All Day Apple Butter

INGREDIENTS

* 5 1/2 pounds apples – peeled, cored and finely chopped
* 4 cups white sugar
* 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
* 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
* 1/4 teaspoon salt

DIRECTIONS

1. Place the apples in a slow cooker. In a medium bowl, mix the sugar, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Pour the mixture over the apples in the slow cooker and mix well.
2. Cover and cook on high 1 hour.
3. Reduce heat to low and cook 9 to 11 hours, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is thickened and dark brown.
4. Uncover and continue cooking on low 1 hour. Stir with a whisk, if desired, to increase smoothness.
5. Spoon the mixture into sterile containers, cover and refrigerate or freeze.

This tasty apple butter is a real slow cooker, but well worth the wait. Depending on the sweetness of the apples used, the amount of sugar may be adjusted to taste
