I am making a pineapple glazed ham for christmas dinner and I need ideas for the rest of the menu?
What can I serve with this dinner? I want it to be different than Thanksgiving dinner. Can anyone give me any ideas?

Personally, I like to do a non traditional potato (maybe sweet potatoes with brown sugar & walnuts) along with a green bean casserole. I’m not sure what you served for Thanksgiving but think of warm savory side dishes that use nutmeg and other holiday spices.
There are many good dishes for Christmas. What does your family like? Pie is good to consider.

2 containers cool whip
2 large containers cottage cheese
1 can Mandarin oranges
1 can pineapple chunks
1 box orange Jello
1 box pineapple Jello

I’m making a ham too — you have to have yams (or sweet potatoes) with the ham, and mashed white potatoes too. Then you need to choose a vegetable that’s green (you don’t want to make carrots because it doesn’t make the best presentation with the yams being in the same color group.) Yes, that counts! I make the yams by cutting them into wedges and par-steaming them until they are a little fork tender — then put them into a baking dish (like a pyrex square or rectangle) and make a syrup of butter, a little maple syrup, brown sugar (and I warm this in a small pot), then when the sugar has melted and the syrup is a smooth brown glaze, I add a couple of tablespoons of heavy cream or half and half to it and mix it up. Salt the wedges of potato (try to keep the potatoes in one layer if possible). Pour the syrup over them and then throw a handful of pecans over the whole thing. Then you bake it for maybe the last half hour that the ham is cooking and voila! Gorgeous and so delicious that your guests will request it in the future — they even ask me to bring it as my contribution to dinner when I visit them — it’s like "Make those sweet potatoes, please!" I’m making brussels sprouts with our dinner (I love them – I know not everyone does), and some mixed veggies for those who are not into the sprouts. Of course, I’ll also make sure that the pineapple slices get just a little caramelized so that I can serve them with everything else. MMMmmm, delicious! Potatoes au gratin, made with white potatoes and sweet potatoes. Any au gratin recipe will work, just substitute half the white potatoes with sweet potatoes.
I think french style greens beans with a nice coating of butter would be a great vegetable and would add a nice color to the meal.
And, of course, hot rolls and butter are a must, at least for me.
