any good ideas for thanksgiving dinner?
i have my own mash potato recipe but does anyone know what would be a good recipe for thanksgiving?
something that i can cook manually by buying ingredients.
so in other words going and buying ingredients from the store and cooking it myself.
**Sweet Potato Crunch***
3 c. cooked, mashed sweet potatoes
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. melted butter
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. milk
Brown Sugar-Crunch Topping
Combine potatoes, sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla and milk; mix well. Turn in greased 2-quart shallow baking dish. Sprinkle with Brown Sugar-Crunch Topping. Bake in 350 degree gas oven 25 minutes or until bubbly. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
BROWN SUGAR-CRUNCH TOPPING:
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/4 c. flour
3 tbsp. melted butter
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Combine all ingredients, mixing well.

Here is a good, fancy way to make mashed potatoes:
Bake your potatoes or microwave them. Cut them in half, long-ways.
Scoop out the inside with an ice cream scoop. Mash it up, add butter, milk or sour cream, salt, pepper, and cheese. Whip it up fluffy.
Put it in a pastry bag (you can get cheap plastic ones at the grocery store) and pipe it back into the skin like a boat. Sprinkle with bacon bits & chives.
Another option is making sweet potatoes. Slice them 1/2 inch think. Boil them a little bit, for about 5 to 10 minutes. Then peel off the skin. Layer the slices in a baking dish. Between each layer, dot with butter, a sprinkling of brown sugar, a dash of cinnamon, salt & paprika. Pour about 1/4 cup of water into it and bake at 350 degrees for about 1/2 hour.
