My boyfriend of like 2 days doesn’t have any thanksgiving dinner so I was thinking of bringing him some thanksgivingey but still casual stuff.. It’s not really about the food but more about the thought so I’m going to get turkey cold cut, a mini pumpkin tart…what else do you think? what can i use for “stuffing”? suggestions?

Here is a really good sandwich that is usually made from Thanksgiving leftovers, but you could make it with cold cuts instead…

bread or bagels
sliced turkey
cream cheese
canned cranberry sauce (spread it like jelly)
lettuce
tomato

You could serve it with sweet potato or pumpkin soup (you can usual find those in boxes next to the canned soups) and for dessert you could have pumpkin ice cream.

I am going to my boyfriends family’s house. I am travelling by plane the night before, so I can’t exactly bring a traditional dish kind of thing. I am in the wine country, and that is always a fall back. But I would prefer to bring something more wholesome and I don’t even know if they drink. It would be nice if it was somewhat of a hostess gift, or something. I just have no clue what would be appropriate. I will not go empty handed, that is for sure! Also, I am not affluent, quite the opposite, but I want to be generous. Help me brainstorm, I need ideas!

Why don’t you have a basket of fruit with a bottle of wine delivered the day you arrive — you can get them through your local FTD florist or on line though different companies. That way you don’t have to worry about taking it on the plane and it is a nice gesture that paves the way before you arrive.

well you can cook normal things but in different ways. you can check on www.foodnetwork.com they always have loads of recipes. also try cooks.com they also have several recipes to help spiff some old recipes up. HINT: Paula did fried cake OMG

this is my first thanksgiving at my house, and i’ll have both sides of the family there, but it won’t be very big, only 10 or so people. any ideas to make it memorable? things that are budget friendly will help too. thanks!!!!

Ask each person to bring some object that is important to them. At dinner each one gets to show and tell. You may be surprised at what they bring and the stories that come out!
